MCLA:
Liberal Arts, Elevated
OUTPACE DESIGN TRENDS
A Fresh Identity
The Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) is a four-year liberal arts college in western Massachusetts with undergraduate enrollment at 1,500 students and a small cohort of graduate students. Given the recent closures of some small liberal arts schools, MCLA opted to rebrand to be more competitive.
MCLA team hired Simpson & Scarborough to create a fresh brand identity, but the website was several years behind and MCLA’s goal was to “outpace current web design trends.” Enter iFactory.
INVITING EXPLORATION
A site that keeps users engaged
iFactory created a design and user interface that invited exploration, the same way MCLA’s programs encourage students to dig deeper.
The result was a design like no other, with a left-hand menu and multiple micro-interactions that keep visitors engaged.
The synergy between the MCLA team and iFactory made this design possible. MCLA was willing to make big changes, including streamlining content, and iFactory’s information architects, designers, and developers worked closely to make the vision real.
